From Aberdeen to Slovenia

I'l try to add a few thoughts about mastiffs for your journal.
Mastiff is my favourit breed. I first met mastiffs in 1991. I was just finishing my time in Belgrade where I was the last Slovenian in federal presidency. In June Slovenia declared independency and a 10 days war with federal army followed. I negociated a cease fire and the retreat of Yugoslav army from Slovenia, which de facto ment independance. I was relieved of an enormous burden and could finally have -a dog. I admired mastiffs in a dog book. But it was not easy to get them. But in August just when the war in Croatia started the only breeder from the than Yugoslav federation fled from the war region to Slovenia with a few mastiff puppies.
When I learned about it I immediatelly took one. His name was Artur. Such a wonderful dog! He followed me in fortcoming years when I was the prime minister of Slovenia. He helped me so much fighting the stress and all the challenges. He was so kind and so patient with me. I was extremly busy but I spent with him every possible moment, walking him out every morning and evening, spendindig weekends and holidays in dog friendly places. When I didn't want to speak about politics I spoke about Artur. Many statesmen who visited Slovenia wanted to meet him- presidet Clinton was charmed with him! So he stayed with more than 10 years of my primeministership until April 2002. I was so sad when I lost him. First I thought I would not get a new dog. But I missed mastiff and after 3 months I started to look at the intrnet for mastiffs. I was not sure yet should I start a new story whith all its pleasures and pains. But then I found Kumormaimastiffs with wonderful pictures. And they had pupies! When after some hesitation mrs.Knight sent me the picture of
Brodie Klanzmun I couldn' resist any more. Brodie
than flied from Aberdeen to Ljubljana! Now he took the place of Artur. I like
him as much as I did Artur. He has his personality and we go along together very
well. His arival coincided with my presidential election- I didn't succed to
quit politics but I got a new mastiff to help me surviving in it. It is not only
in Washington where people say- if you need a friend than get yourself a dog!
And mastiff is more than a dog!
